Mood boards are often used by interior designers and decorators to create the look and feel of a space to communicate their ideas effectively their team or clients. It is a great way to get a visual picture of a project before it starts. Any and all types of ideas, thoughts or grands schemes can be displayed through a mood board and I have created many over the years to show my clients what I have in mind for a project. It is a great tool and I use it often on my various decorating projects. 

My sister lives in a high-rise in Mumbai, India and being a gifted graphic designer, tastefully decorates every spare inch of her apartment in her unique impeccable style. I was particular struck by how she worked her magic on her small balconies to create a lot of additional living space. I started looking around for similar inspiring spaces tucked away in high-rises all over the world. Here are a few that I particularly love. These are so cute and cozy! I like the idea of tending to a small space, making it gorgeous and do a little bit of gardening and enjoying it whenever the weather permits. I have decided that if I ever live in a high-rise, I will create a balcony paradise for myself. 

This is a vast subject and there is much to say about the technical applications of proper forms of lighting. However, in this post I will focus more on the style element of different types of lighting. Nothing transforms a dreary and dull space as quickly as good lighting. Lighting can be used to hide flaws as much as to highlight features. The idea of renovating a room in your home for your children starts around the time you find out you are expecting your bundle of joy. Many blogs and entire publications exist to cater to the high level of interest in parents, particularly moms, to create a perfect nursery or child's room. For a while now, I have worked with clients who want my help coming up with an exciting concept for their kid's room and I love these projects. Before you decide that you or your family have outgrown your present home, consider this. How did you arrive at that conclusion? Are you running out of space to perform your daily functions or do you feel the need for more floor space. The solution maybe as simple as adding built-ins to solve your problems. A well-planned and constructed built-in will create tons of extra square-footage, take stuff of your valuable floor space, utilize unused space to create new use for it and otherwise simply solve all space crisis in one fell swoop. The question is, are they really that incredible? My answer is, yes. They definitely offer the most inexpensive and efficient solution for space-challenged homes.
