Decorating Kid's Rooms
The idea of renovating a room in your home for your children starts around the time you find out you are expecting your bundle of joy. Many blogs and entire publications exist to cater to the high level of interest in parents, particularly moms, to create a perfect nursery or child's room. For a while now, I have worked with clients who want my help coming up with an exciting concept for their kid's room and I love these projects. Working closely with kid's and parents to make their dreams come true is very exciting. There are fewer rules and more freedom to go where imagination takes us. Here are some points that I always keep in mind while designing or remodeling kid's rooms.
Storage Galore
If you want your kids to tidy up after themselves, give them plenty of designated storage in their room. There should be an easily accessible array of storage for various items like toys, crayons, clothes and books. I prefer a combination of built-in and free standing storage solutions.
Fun Beds
There are many options for kid's beds such as double beds, bunk beds and twin beds. I like the idea of day beds in kid's rooms too. You can use colors, patterns and themes in the bedding to make it exciting.
A Place to Work
An area to study and work is something kids need to have in their room. Shelves to store school supplies and a comfortable chair are important. See a few clever and attractive options below.
A Place to Play
An area to play is also something kids need to have in their room. A designated area with carpet or a rug works well for this.
Themes Rock
I love themes in kid's rooms. See some fine examples below that I picked out of many because they are so much fun. Some are patriotic, some dark and serious and some are light and whimsical, but they all look amazing!
Area Rugs
Once all these elements are in place, a child's room acquires a new personality and it is a lot of fun putting it all together. Until next time, Happy Decorating!
