Kitchen design and decor has come a long way. Today the kitchen in a home serves as the hub and center of family activities and gathering place. Functionality is key in a kitchen so our time spent preparing meals and clean-up afterward can go smoothly. Since we share our kitchen with our close friends and family we want it to look fabulous as well. Recently I have come upon a few kitchens that are my personal favorites, both from a functional as well as aesthetic point. In all honesty, I just love the way they look. Here they are:

It is probably quite clear that I lean towards more contemporary kitchens than classic ones. However, in spite of an over abundance of white kitchens I am seeing around me, my personal favourite is the last one; walnut and white. I love the clean feel of the white paired with the warmth of the wood.

Chartreuse - A Risque Color?

I love choices that are bold and statements that turn heads. But when it comes to decorating your own home you may want to think twice before going too risque with your choices. Before choosing to make a bold and dramatic statement ask yourself this. Is it a passing fancy or is it a choice you will be happy with in the long run? If you are ready to take the plunge, I recommend chartreuse!  Colors have the power to capture our imagination and  this is  one such color. A daybed is a versatile piece of furniture that can be used in any room for seating by day and sleeping at night. With the increasing popularity of a home office, a day bed can create a dual purpose room by adding the possibility of using a home office as a spare bedroom if needed.
